Rihanna’s ‘ANTI’ Flops; Only 1,000 Copies Sold in the U.S

The news is bad for Rihanna and Jay Z. Despite their best efforts, RiRi’s eighth studio album, Anti (pronounced “Auntie”) is a spectacular flop. Jay Z tried it when he leaked RiRi’s entire album on his Tidal music app. But she will sell only 1,000 copies when the final count is tallied. To add insult to injury, the album opened at #27 on the Billboard Top 100 Albums chart. An inside source told the NY Times that the actual sales figure (as of Monday) was 460 copies sold. What went wrong?
   According to NY Times —
“Anti” had a low start on the Billboard album chart this week, opening at No. 27 — Rihanna’s lowest opening chart position. Nielsen reported that the album sold fewer than 1,000 copies in the United States; a subscriber to its service who declined to be identified because the data is private, said that the number of albums sold was 460. The album also had 4.2 million streams and 126,000 sales of individual tracks, according to data from Nielsen, whose accounting week goes through the end of Thursday.
